This year’s Homelessness Action Week in New Westminster included a number of events.
On Monday, the traditional Thanksgiving meal was served up by Union Gospel Mission.
Connect Day was hosted by Holy Trinity Cathedral on Tuesday. Twenty-six organizations participated and over 100 people attended. All kinds of services were on offer, from donated clothing to hearing tests to pet services.
Wednesday was the night of the art show, sponsored by Purpose Society and UGM. Both clients and representatives of local agencies attended and there were some remarkable pieces on display.
On Thursday we held our annual fundraising dinner. The event included Kathhryn Gretsinger as MC, and the inestimable Judy Graves, longterm homeless activist, as guest speaker. HAVE Café supplied a delicious meal and we had more than twenty community members generously donate items to the silent auction, which raised over $1500.
Thanks again to everyone who attended!
