Statement on the 2025 Point in Time Homeless Count

The 2025 Point in Time Homeless Count for Greater Vancouver indicated a significant increase in the number of unsheltered homeless individuals in New Westminster and other lower mainland municipalities.

What this indicates is that there is more need than ever for subsidized and supported housing in New Westminster and other Lower Mainland jurisdictions. It also speaks to the need for more resources, from every level of government, for addressing the underlying causes of homelessness, particularly mental health and substance use services that are accessible to the unhoused population how, where, and when they need those services.
